Complete sequences that count by tens: 10, 20, 30, 40… the pattern that unlocks place value.

Grade 1
Counting by 10s is the gateway to place value. A child who can continue "30, 40, 50…" from any starting point understands that our number system is built on tens — the insight behind two-digit addition, money, and measurement.
Each worksheet presents sequences of six numbers counting by 10s with missing numbers to fill in. Starting points vary on every randomly generated sheet.
Counting by 10s to 100 is a kindergarten and grade 1 standard. Grade 1 extends it to counting by 10s from any number (for example 23, 33, 43), which these worksheets practice.
Adding 10 changes only the tens digit: 42 becomes 52. Children who see this pattern through skip counting grasp two-digit addition and subtraction much more easily.
